The pear cut — also called the teardrop — is a hybrid cut combining the broad table of a round brilliant at one end with the pointed apex of a marquise at the other. It was developed in the 15th century and has remained one of the most romantic diamond shapes ever since. With 58 facets, the pear achieves the same light-return performance as a round brilliant while offering a unique directional quality: the point draws the eye upward, elongating the finger and creating a distinctive, feminine silhouette. The traditional orientation worn with the point toward the fingertip is also one of the most flattering ring positions for any hand shape. Our CVD lab-grown pear diamonds are cut to a length-to-width ratio of approximately 1.50–1.75:1, the proportion considered ideal for balanced symmetry between the rounded base and the pointed apex.

Caring for Your Pear Cut Solitaire Ring
The pear cut's pointed apex requires slightly more attention than rounded shapes. The single claw at the tip is the most important to keep in good condition — it protects the only sharp edge the diamond has.
Cleaning: Soak in warm soapy water for 2 minutes. Use a soft toothbrush around the prongs and under the stone. Rinse and dry. Monthly cleaning maintains the pear's exceptional fire and transparency.
