The oval cut was developed in the 1950s as a modern elongated variation on the round brilliant. It retains most of the round's exceptional light return while adding a unique visual benefit: the elongated shape makes the diamond appear larger than a round of the same carat weight and creates a flattering, finger-lengthening effect when worn as a solitaire. With 56–58 facets arranged similarly to a round brilliant, an oval diamond achieves outstanding fire and sparkle while offering a softer, more romantic silhouette than square or rectangular cuts. Our CVD lab-grown ovals are individually cut and polished to maximise the ratio of length to width that gives the oval its distinctive appearance.

Oval cut diamonds appear up to 10% larger than a round of the same carat weight due to their broader surface area and elongated form. The 4-claw solitaire setting lifts the stone high enough to interact with light freely, while leaving the sides of the diamond open for side brilliance. Every stone is graded D–E colour and VVS/VS clarity by the IGI.

Caring for Your Oval Cut Solitaire Ring
A solitaire ring's single exposed stone collects more dust and oils than a pavé or channel setting. Cleaning weekly preserves the oval's characteristic sparkle and fire.
Cleaning: Soak in warm soapy water for 2 minutes. Use a soft toothbrush to clean under the stone and around the prong tips. Rinse and dry with a soft lint-free cloth.
Prong Care: Check the 4 prong tips every 6–12 months — a prong that becomes thin or bent can allow the stone to move. Complimentary prong inspection is available from our atelier.
