Oval cut diamonds in stud earrings create a distinctive look — the elongated form sits horizontally across the earlobe, appearing larger than a round of the same carat weight and adding a subtle width that makes the earring look more substantial without extra weight. Because oval studs are matched pairs, both stones are selected to ensure identical colour, clarity, and length-to-width ratio — so they appear perfectly symmetrical when worn together. The 4-claw setting lifts each diamond just above the ear, maximising light exposure from above. Caring for Your Oval Cut Diamond Earrings
Stud earrings collect natural oils and hair product residue from the ear and lobe — more so than pendants or rings. A brief weekly clean keeps oval studs looking brilliant.
Cleaning: Place both earrings in warm soapy water for 2 minutes. Brush gently around the prongs and under each stone. Rinse and pat dry. Never clean with alcohol-based solutions — they can dry out the gold over time.
Backs: Check the butterfly backs are gripping firmly before wearing. After 12–18 months of regular wear, backs may loosen — replacements are available from our atelier. Screw backs are available as an upgrade for added security.
